About this workshop

This workshop is all about using elements of the Michael Chekhov Technique to kick-start your artistic side and ignite your creative spark.  Many tools of the technique are wonderful for unlocking talent that already lies within us all.  The aim of this weekend is to give participants both the tools and the time needed to explore and make new discoveries about their own artistic selves.

If you either want to discover more about the Michael Chekhov Technique or you simply want to tap into your creative self, this course is designed to do both.  The course will use many of Michael Chekhov’s  psycho-physical exercises and other tools he has given to actors.  By the end of the weekend all participants will leave having created their own artistic piece.  This course is open to all levels of experience.

This workshop will be given by Sarah Purcell, an actor and teacher from Ireland who has been using the Chekhov Technique for over 15 years, read more about Sarah on Tutors.

Testimonials from this workshop:

“I had a wonderful experience at Sarah’s Creative Spark weekend workshop in Berlin. Sarah guided us through clear, practical steps and processes which allowed us to become more open and showed us how to focus our own creativity to bring a creative endeavour into being. All done with a sense of ease – there was no sign of any tortured artists or egos.  Sarah employed techniques from the Michael Chekhov technique to explore creativity and guided us through the process of finding inspiration from other art forms such as paintings, poetry and from nature. I would definitely recommend this workshop to anyone looking for artistic tools which produce tangible results – be they actors, writers, poets. painters etc.” STEPHEN GIBBONS, Actor, Writer, Dublin

“It was a great joy to participate and I feel creatively invigorated, refreshed and inspired. Sarah layered the different Chekhov tools to a inherently consistent process that served perfectly the idea of fostering a fresh and surprising experience of my own creativity. Lot’s of sparks of new little insights, understandings and deepenings! I always felt clearly guided as well as free enough to be in charge of my own process. The timing allowed us to go deep enough into the different tasks but still concise enough to keep in sight the purpose of the bigger process. I also appreciated the warmhearted and communicative atmosphere that she created together with the group.”  DAVID JEKER, Actor, Leipzig.
