Colours for Characterisation and the Chekhov Technique
In this workshop Joerg will share aspects of Chekhov’s work with colour, which is based on Goethe’s Colour Theory. You will touch the basic understanding of his approach and focus on how colours can be used for characterisation. You will explore the meaning of colours and bring that together with the Chekhov Technique for characterisation and creating a part.
You will explore the power of colours themselves and come to a new understanding of colours, both their objective quality as well as their subjective sensation.
This shall then give the possibility to work with colours not only for characters but also for set design, costume and other fields of the performing arts.
Joerg will lead you through this practice. We will explore the different colours and experience the influence of the colours on our feeling and thinking areas. Out of our understanding we will create a characterisation from colours. Working on a modern character is included.
Whether you are new to the Chekhov work or at an advanced level, this workshop gives you a new perspective of working on a character for stage or film.
This course will be held in English.
